How it all began on December 5th, 2013.

August 29th, 2013- Here it came again- full blown allergies. Nothing much different, just working 40+ hours, for a new job- making 30 home visits to my new preschoolers. Life was tiring, and I was ready for labor day weekend. Starting to feel better- thinking I conquered this feat early. Wrong, the cough continued and I continued down a path of weariness as I coughed for 2 more months. Doctor appt, but why- it's just allergies.Mom came home from Aruba- (I must be sick). She fed me well and took good care of her sick daughter.
A week later- I came down with congested head and cold flu. Found more medicine. I tried every medicine known to man at Walgreens. Another month down, and still sick with cold. Took a few sick days to try and help with rest.
November 28th- doctor appt. again! I'm more tired and weak- doctor prescribes more medicine and detects I'm anemic but wants a blood test. Somehow in that week of Thanksgiving, I became more weak and tired. No more being able to function on my own. I must have cause I managed work for 2 more days 1st week of December, with a blood test scheduled for Dec. 4th. Yet- I became so tired and in so much pain- sleepless nights were happening. Doc call Thurs., Dec. 5th with results:
So my hemoglobin count was a 2.1
I was so weak when I left work tues. Walking 5 ft was enough energy and The blood test showed I was extremely anemic. I came in to get a blood transfusion on Thursday. Doctors and residents were lined up to see me as they put in 2 Ivs and drew more blood. Question after question I was probed with why and where I might be losing blood. Doctor after doctor wanted to know eveything and I mean every personal question there ever was about a human's organs.
I was given 2 units of blood while in the ICU. I took it well with a new count of 4.9
They watched me and drew more blood to monitor. I was hooked up to an automatic blood pressure, and heart monitor. Doctors still puzzled in the morning as they chat outside my door. The Hemoglobin team become great detectives on my case. I can't be stable with a 2.1 count. So now I'm sitting up in the bed eating breakfast, chatting with the nurse. I'm not needed in the ICU. I get moved to a new room. No news or many doctors. Lab tests still pending. Doctors still questioning.

So what now= 3 weeks of iron infusions- more doctor appointments, and continuing being watched on Doctor's care, and building strength in my body.

Blessed beyond blessed by my family and friends who spent days in the hospital with me.
