PI Day

So are you wondering what the meaning of pi day really is. And no, it does not mean that today we get to eat Pie! Although some may only wish to do so. If you look, today's date is 3-14. In mathematician terms, it is 3.14 "Pi is the Limit" is the theme for this year. This number is infinite. It goes on and on forever. So no finite sequence of algebraic operations on integers (powers, roots, sums, etc.) can be equal to its value. Every year at school our students have a 'pi day'. On Monday every 2nd-8th grader will participate in a workshop where they will get hands on experiments and learn about how pi is used in math. The high school math class will be instructing our kids on the value of pi. Quite interesting, but it's always a fun learning time, and maybe a piece of pie might be given that day as well.
