ADOPTION

Adoption is becoming a picture of God's family to many families at Bethany Baptist Church...And though it is so sweet and dear to many hearts, there are many who are just learning that I myself am adopted. So here's the story to all my new Bethany Friends....
I was adopted at 4 months old, weighing only 4lbs, and told I would not live; from Calcutta, India. I was in an orphanage where there was no medical help. How grateful I am for my parents to follow in God's leading to adopt. My parents have been the blessing in my life...Not only did they adopt me, but I have 4 other siblings from different countries. Yes, we have been called the "foreign family" by my brothers.

My 2 oldest brothers were born to my parents and were 10 yrs. older before my parents decided to adopt. God has spared my life for reasons I still do not know. I was a child who was not healthy enough to live in India and only by the love of my parents and 2 brothers and God's grace that I am alive. And then with a scare of a ruptered appendix at the age of 8. God continued to keep me alive. I keep praying that someday God will show me why...For now I am thankful.

Thanks for sharing this story, Erika! Since the Guatemala trip, my heart is so much more in tune with God's picture of adoption and what an amazing blessing it is!
